Colin Meloy playing all 3 parts of the Crane Wife. Absolutely perfect :)
Bhi Bhiman. Guttersnipe.
What a voice. What a song.
Tom Waits. “Tom Traubert’s Blues [Four Sheets To The Wind In Copenhagen].”
From a show in 2004. The band has gone through some minor changes since then but Tea Leaf Green was still killer back in the day. The songs are the complete Garden Suite. Audio is decent although it is a bit tough to hear the vocals. Watching this is a good reminder that my own guitar playing is mediocre. Tune in to Part Two of the suite, particularly between 3:00—4:55, to see what I’m talking about. Rock.
Easy to be your Lover by Tea Leaf Green. Yeah, Reed Mathis on Bass.
It’s Alright, Ma (I’m Only Bleeding) by Bob Dylan. Timeless.
Small Change- Tom Waits
Music video for the Tom Waits track, I Don’t Wanna Grow Up off of his album, Bone Machine. A great song in its own right… but the video features Waits running around with horns & a red cape & with one high heeled shoe on & riding a tricycle & playing a miniature guitar under a diner table. T’is the season.
Some Halloween/zombie music. The Felice Brothers’ tune Fire at the Pageant recorded from their visit to Last.fm. I posted the studio recording off of their album Celebration, Florida a couple of months ago—find that here. In the album version, you can hear Ian Felice’s creepy little chant at the end of the song: “Ha ha, ha ha, you’re s’posed to be dead, Mr. Harlan. Ha ha, ha ha ha, you’re s’posed to be dead, go back to sleep.”
16 Shells from a 30.6 by Tom Waits. There exists nowhere (on Earth) a human more rugged.
In which The Avett Brothers break up a fight during their performance of I and Love and You in Amsterdam on Aug. 24 2011.
Nothing Changes by Tea Leaf Green
[And I love the more prominent role that Reed Mathis (on bass) is taking in the progression of Tea Leaf Green’s sound and live show. One of my favorite bands these days. Great song writers/musicians.]
